One of our Win A £30K Wedding partners, McWhirter The Jeweller is an independent family run business, situated in Newry City, founded by Godfrey and Muriel McWhirter in 1958. Godfrey, a trained watchmaker and jeweller, was able to provide a unique service whilst Muriel, welcomed and engaged customers in the front of house.

Their son Garry, guided by his parents, became educated on how to run a successful business. He gained extensive working knowledge of the technical aspects of creating and repairing jewellery.

As Garry’s own family began to grow, his wife Carol and their two sons Lee and Ross, joined the business thus creating a third generation of McWhirter The Jewelller.

In 2021, the shop relocated to Hill Street and the showroom now has an extensive range of jewellery, both in unique, contemporary and exclusive brands of silver and gold. McWhirter’s carry a large selection of engagement and wedding rings, and offer a bespoke design service to meet the needs and requirements of every customer.

They are a proud member of the Company of Master Jewellers, the UK’s largest buying group for independents.

After sales service is a major feature in their store. They have a jewellery and watch workshop which enables them to repair items for customers throughout Ireland.
